What You'll Do

The Safety Admin will support the Safety team on project tasks as assigned and assist in day-to-day clerical duties while working within multiple databases. This position's main responsibilities will be onboarding, handling, and processing PPE. Duties will require communication between various departments and working effectively in a cross-functional setting. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with review, tracking, and scheduling of employee training
  • Responsible for maintaining the inventory of PPE, including ensuring rubber gloves and sleeves are tested and dated every six months or per the local union contract.
  • Required to work directly with management and job leads to assemble job-specific information based on entries and information gathered through various sources.
  • Assist in the day-to-day clerical duties, including filing paperwork, scheduling meetings, fielding phone calls, writing reports, developing procedures, etc.
  • Work on various other assignments including clothing programs, etc.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding activities, including employment verification, drug screening, account setup, equipment issuance, and orientation to safety programs and company systems.
  • Administer PPE and FR clothing programs, including inventory management, distribution, tracking, and coordination of required testing, inspections, and replacement cycles.
  • Support DOT and driver compliance activities, including maintenance of driver qualification records, CDL documentation, and medical certification tracking.
  • Maintain inventory records and safety-related databases while providing administrative support for safety systems, fleet technologies, and employee compliance programs.

What You'll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree or a combination of experience and additional training which supports the position
  • Experience working with safety systems and databases
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Team facilitation skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional settings.
  • Strong team player with the ability to organize, prioritize, handle time constraints and manage shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid, Active Driver's License

 

Preferred:

  • Knowledgeable on safety terminology, rate indicators and how to calculate them. Indicators may include but are not limited to TRIR, DART, LTI, LTIR etc
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Provincial occupational safety regulations including OSHA, FAA, MSHA, EPA and health standards such as ANSI, NFPA, NEC and other non-regulatory safety codes and standards required.
  • Complete all other tasks and activities within the realm of the HSE program.
  • Experience with employee onboarding, PPE inventory management, DOT compliance programs, and safety management systems preferred.

Physical Requirement:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform occasional warehouse, inventory, and material handling activities, including operation of forklifts or similar equipment.
