About this Role

IFS InfraSource is seeking a Sawcut Operator to join our team based out of Lorton, VA.  This position supports underground utility construction and has the potential to support both Washington, DC and Virginia operations.

 

The Sawcut Operator works as part of a crew performing safe, precise sawcutting of asphalt, concrete, and roadway surfaces in support of utility installation and repair.  This role involves operating specialized sawcutting equipment, working outdoors in varying conditions, and performing physically demanding tasks while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

What You'll Do

  • Operate sawcutting equipment to cut asphalt, concrete, and other paved surfaces for underground utility installation and restoration
  • Safely set up and break down work zones, including traffic control devices and barricades
  • Measure, mark, and execute accurate cuts according to job specifications and project plans
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and cleaning of sawcutting equipment and tools
  • Assist with debris removal, cleanup, and site restoration following sawcut operations
  • Work around live traffic, pedestrians, and active construction zones while maintaining situational awareness
  • Support other crew members with general labor tasks as needed (digging, jack hammering, concrete/asphalt work)
  • Follow all InfraSource safety policies, OSHA requirements, and DOT regulations
  • Work cooperatively and professionally with crew members, supervisors, inspectors, and the public

What You'll Bring

  • Valid Class A CDL - required
  • Tankers endorsement - preferred
  • Current DOT Medical Card
  • Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check
  • Experience operating sawcutting equipment or similar construction machinery preferred
  • Knowledge of construction site safety practices and traffic control procedures
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Physical capability to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, kneel, crawl, climb, and perform repetitive tasks
  • High school diploma or equivalent
