What you’ll be doing

As an Associate Engineering Manager, you’ll play a key role in turning Satispay into the financial home of every Italian business. Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:

• Lead and grow a Business-oriented team: own the day-to-day of a team of 5–8 engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement

• Drive the delivery of ambitious projects: translate product and business goals into a clear technical roadmap, and ensure the team executes on it reliably and predictably

• Collaborate across domains: work closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to align on dependencies, priorities, and shared standards

• Hire and develop talent: participate in recruiting to grow the team, and actively invest in the growth of individual engineers through feedback, mentorship, and stretch opportunities.

• Report up and communicate clearly: keep leadership informed on progress, risks, and blockers, translating technical complexity into business-relevant terms.

Who we’re looking for

We need a problem-solver who loves teamwork and gets things done. If you're curious and ready for real ownership, you'll fit in! Does this sound like you?

• Engineering Leadership Experience: 5+ years in backend engineering, with at least 2 in a team lead or tech lead role managing a squad in a product-driven environment.

• Backend Expertise: strong command of distributed systems and API design, with a track record of delivering robust, scalable services in a high-growth or regulated industry.

• Proven Delivery Ownership: demonstrated ability to own end-to-end delivery of complex features, from technical scoping and planning to production rollout, balancing speed with quality.

• Clear and Effective Communication in English: comfortable engaging with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders; able to represent your team's work to leadership and translate business needs into technical direction

• Passion for Fintech and Financial Products: genuine interest in how technology is reshaping the way businesses manage money, with an appreciation for the responsibility that comes with building in a regulated, high-trust environment.

Initial salary: Starting from €51,000 gross per annum
This baseline is set using objective, gender-neutral criteria for the role's core requirements. However, we do not believe in putting a ceiling on talent. The final compensation package is tailored according to your unique experience and expertise.
