Why This Role Matters

Engineering teams don't run themselves — they need someone who can clear blockers, grow talent, and keep delivery moving without sacrificing quality. This role owns both the people and the execution: managing a team of engineers working across data pipelines, web platforms, and healthcare systems while making architecture-level decisions that hold up over time. The work this team ships directly affects how health data flows across our platform and reaches the people who depend on it.

What You'll Actually Do

Drive team delivery: Own engineering execution across key initiatives — coordinating with product, operations, support, and infrastructure to keep projects sequenced, unblocked, and shipped on time.

Lead architecture decisions: Contribute to software architecture discussions and guide design strategies with a focus on scalability, maintainability, performance, and security.

Run effective Scrum processes: Participate in and improve Scrum ceremonies to ensure work is consistently prioritized, well-understood, and moving at a sustainable velocity.

Manage and develop your team: Hold regular 1:1s, set clear goals, run performance management cycles, and actively support each engineer's career growth.

Recruit and retain engineering talent: Build a high-performing team by attracting strong candidates and creating an environment people want to stay in.

Mentor engineers at every level: Coach engineers through technical challenges, career decisions, and professional development — leading by example on standards and craft.

Qualifications

What You Bring to Our Team

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles
• 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager
• Prior experience as a software engineer, data engineer, or business analyst

Technical Skills

• Experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using Airflow, Kafka, and Snowflake
• Healthcare domain knowledge including claims and clinical data, HIPAA/PHI regulatory requirements
• Web application development experience (e.g., e-commerce, CRM, CMS, or business web platforms)
• Proficiency with modern web application stacks including JavaScript, REST APIs, and databases
