Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a Technical Development Engineer in Bucharest, Romania or Oslo, Norway to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. The Technical Development Engineer has the responsibility to support the projects during the opportunity and development phase, working together with the Technical Development Manager (TDM) and covering the engineering, supply chain and project control workstreams to deliver a consistent EPC Technical and Commercial offer to Business Development (BD).

The TD Engineer reports to the EPCl organization but is a key liaison with the BD team in the relevant region. The engineer assess the pre-feasibility of the project thanks to his technical knowledge, which is mainly civil works and electrical related and manage front-end engineering studies by using internal or external resources. Thanks to his/her good knowledge of the construction local cost and local network, the TDM delivers a cost competitive EPC budget considering the specific site conditions and grid interconnection solution(s) of the projects.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Gather all useful information and inputs from Business Development Department and support them to prepare the deliverables for the Business Decision Gate 1 and 2
  • Support Engineering, Supply Chain and Project control internal resources and workstreams to ensure smooth and efficient documentation delivery.
  • Support and perform technical work in early phases of solar PV, Wind and BESS projects, including feasibility and front-end engineering studies, site studies, PV and HV technical preliminary design and design specifications in contracts.
  • Lead the development of technical concepts and solutions of the projects, identifies optimal solutions from a technical, commercial and execution perspective at early stage including civil, mechanical, and electrical aspects of the plants, interconnection and high-voltage design, yield assessments, as well as assessment of other technologies
  • Develop and verify EPC budgets and cost estimates and ensure consistency with specific Technical Previous Solutions, uncertainties, and risks of the projects.
  • Lead external and internal technical development processes and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to successfully lead the project to construction start.
  • Develop Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Tender documentation for engineering, site studies, equipment supply and execution contracts.
  • Coordinate Technical Due Diligences (TDD) for acquisition of projects and portfolios and facilitate lender’s TDDs.
  • Supervise, coordinate and review work developed by third-parties, such as co-developers, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
  • Cooperate with the regional team to jointly ensure we reach the company’s ambitious growth targets.

In collaboration with the TDM, Supply Chain and Engineering:

  • Conduct market investigations and reviews regarding the construction and equipment cost
  • Develop a network of partners, consultants, suppliers and contractors

Qualifications And Competencies

  • Education: Technical university level degree, engineering (preferably civil or electrical)
  • Experience: 5 years professional experience, ideally from other renewable IPPs or EPC/Engineering company
  • Language: fluent both written and spoken in English
  • Experience with tender preparation and Construction Budget preparation.
  • Experience with business development phase of projects and understanding of power markets and in particular renewable energy is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of technical aspects of renewable energy and desired experience with wind projects
  • Experience with Technical Due Diligence
  • Commercial mindset and experience with optimizing overall business from a technical design and execution perspective
  • Working knowledge and understanding of main technical contract structures in the renewables industry
  • Multidisciplinary understanding and EPC projects
  • Participation in constructing phase and Operating and Maintenance phase is desirable
  • Expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including presentation software and Excel
