Position Summary

 

We presently have a full-time position for a Material Handler/Forklift Operator at our Elkmont, Alabama manufacturing plant. The hours for this role are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. central time.This position reports to the production supervisor. The ability to perform any combination of following tasks to receive, store, and distribute material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments: Reads production schedule, customer orders, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. The product assembled will be of uncompromising quality to meet our commitment to passionate customer care. 

Responsibilities

Key Tasks

 

Performs any combination of following tasks to receive, store, and distribute material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments: Reads production schedule, customer orders, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Conveys materials and items from receiving to production areas or to other designated areas by hand, hand truck, or forklift.  Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence, such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Assembles customer orders from stock.  Uses computer to enter shipping information, access production information, and uses computer for data entry.

 

  • Ensures raw materials are properly stored in their designated storage locations and are neatly and safely organized.
  • Responsible for all facility peripheral 6S.
  • Utilizes floor cleaning equipment
  • Repairs damaged tape and floor coatings
  • Replaces work cell cleaning supplies when required.

Physical Demands:

 

The ability to stand, walk, access a forklift.  Manual material handling frequency is often at weights from 5 to 50 lbs.

Involves lifting and lowering of weight from 5 – 50 lbs.

 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, G.E.D.  Or 1 to 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Valid state of Alabama Driver’s license
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical skills:  add, subtract, multiply, divide
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to use computer to access information required, retrieve necessary information and perform some data entry.
  • The ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must be aware and adhere to all company and departmental safety procedures and policies.
  • Ability to work on 2nd shift
  • Prior experience operating a fiddler forklift, controlling operations of handling equipment and systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of safe work practices and the ability to use good judgment.
  •  The ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer, or to judge the distance between an object and the observer.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and correct prior to the safety of associates, area, or building being jeopardized.
  • All candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older and have excellent command of the English language reading, writing, and speaking.
