About this role

Overview

FWI is building a team to administer, maintain, secure, and accredit the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) Academic Network, which provides the IT environment for 100% of DLIFLC teaching and instruction for all students, staff, faculty, and guests. This position will serve as the Government's senior systems specialist, bridging server administration, virtualization, cloud services, and infrastructure security to maintain high-availability systems. The System Engineer will manage development, staging, and production systems in a hybrid cloud/datacenter environment, configure and support domain servers, SAN, NAS, and backup systems, and ensure the military language training community receives robust, secure, and well-maintained system infrastructure that enables seamless language training delivery.

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday,7:45am to 4:45pm at Presidio of Monterey in Monterey, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and support domain system servers, SAN, NAS, and backup systems
  • Manage development, staging, and production systems in hybrid cloud/datacenter environment
  • Administer Microsoft O365, VMware vSphere, NSX-T, Windows Server, and Linux Red Hat
  • Manage SQL/MySQL databases, EMC SAN technologies, and Active Directory
  • Support AWS or Microsoft Azure cloud services
  • Maintain and update system architecture and design documentation
  • Make recommendations for system modernization and expansion
  • May be required to travel (CONUS/OCONUS)

 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • BA/BS from accredited college/university with minimum 5 years experience OR AA/AS with minimum 7 years experience OR 9+ years experience serving as a system administrator
  • Requires one of the following certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP
  • Vendor Specific CE/OS Certification
  • Requires the following technical skills:
    • Microsoft O365, VMWare, Vsphere and NSX-T
    • Linux Red Hat, Windows Server
    • SQL, MySQL
    • EMC SAN technologies and applications
    • Active Directory
    • AWS or Microsoft Azure
  • Deep technical knowledge in operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking protocols, storage technologies, cloud computing platforms, and security best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to diagnose complex technical issues
  • Experience maintaining high availability hybrid data centers
  • Secret level security clearance
