About this role

Overview

The Title Officer must possess the ability to assess risk and liabilities in accordance with policy provisions, and provide title opinions based on the facts and documentation. The title officer also provides resource information to clarify title opinions and underwriting decisions within the framework of company policies, federal and state regulations.

Duties

• Maintain strong and accurate attention to detail along with strong ability to prioritize and multitask in a highly productive manner.• Utilize understanding of title underwriting standards and company underwriting guidelines to determine condition of title, insurability while analyzing risk and liability to provide accurate and comprehensive title report.• Determine insurability of title or identify the appropriate procedure to be followed under usual and complex conditions by consulting with state and regional underwriting counsel.• Issue endorsements, write Proforma policies and final Title policies utilizing company policy procedures as well as commercial O&E’s when requested.• Ability to complete complex legal description title examinations from patent forward, review complex exceptions and clouds to determine insurability.• Responsible for review of clearance documentation.• Explain chain of title and commitment with staff and customers.• Recognize title defects and formulate curative solutions• Possess knowledge of legal documents with ability to analyze and evaluate documents as it relates to title.• Review ALTA surveys with ability to map metes and bounds legal descriptions.• Research in databases such TitlePoint; Property Sync; Public County Websites and other pertinent software solutions• Perform with teamwork mindset and close customer relations of both escrow staff and customers to produce positive solutions and meet time requirements.• Must have excellent problem-solving capability and analytical abilities.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years Commercial title experience.

• Proficient typing and keyboard skills.• Exceptional verbal/written communication, organizational and analytical skills.• Must have excellent problem-solving capability and analytical abilities.• Must be self-starter with ability to work independently.
