About this role

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We are seeking a High-Thrust Engine Lead to help us in our mission by leading the activities of Storm development and managing the team.

Key responsibilities:

• Leading a team of engineers and technicians, managing and directing a team of engineers and technicians who work on a variety of engineering projects. This may involve setting goals and objectives, assigning tasks, and providing guidance and support to team members.

• Leading the hiring process, defining the needs, the job description, conducting the interviews and onboarding newcomers.

• Supporting and challenging the team in their main design choices and development logic

• Overseeing the planning and execution of engineering projects, ensuring that engineering projects are completed on time and within budget. This may involve coordinating with other departments, such as sales, marketing, and manufacturing, to align projects with business objectives and needs.

• Supporting the business team to find new opportunities.

What we would love to see from you:

• Advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) in propulsion engineering, system engineering, aerospace engineering, or another related field.

• Over 10 years of experience in systems engineering or spacecraft development roles.

• Strong understanding of cryogenic rocket engines and cryogenic propulsive systems.

• Demonstrated experience in managing requirements, interfaces, and technical budgets.

• Strong leadership and management skills, capable of leading a geographically distributed team and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality products.

• Excellent collaboration skills for working effectively across departments to achieve seamless system integration.

• Fluency in English, with strong oral and written communication skills.

• Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.

• Strong organization and task prioritization skills.

• Positive and flexible attitude.

• Ability to communicate at all levels of the business.
