The Oregon Health & Science University - Knight Cancer Institute, known as one of the pioneers in personalized cancer medicine, is an international leader in research and cancer treatment. The Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology currently has over 110 faculty and is comprised of programs in general hematology, solid tumor oncology, bone marrow transplant & cellular therapy, hematological malignancies, and palliative medicine. 

The Division, the largest component of the Knight Cancer Institute, aims to provide outstanding patient care, ensure access to high-quality clinical and translational clinical trials, and integrate basic research. The Division has grown significantly over the past decade and is projected to continue growing significantly.

Function/Duties of Position

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service, and will be a member of the Adult Blood & Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy Programs, Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology.

 

Duties include: Daily clinical management of inpatient bone marrow/hematologic malignancy patients with an emphasis clinical management of allogeneic & autologous transplant recipients as well as the patients receiving immune effector cell therapy including CAR T-cells, TILS and other immune populations; shared responsibility for on-call coverage; case conferencing with multi-disciplinary teams; coordination of teaching rounds with Fellows and House-staff assigned to the inpatient; fostering collaborative relationships with referring physicians and organizations; cooperation with clinical trial and data management/ registry teams; development and participation in clinical trials; participation in the education of medical students and house staff in accordance with assignments to the department by the Curriculum Committee and Chair.

Required Qualifications

  • MD OR MD/PhD
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board eligible/certified in Hematology and or/Medical Oncology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates the background, focus and drive to excel, as well as the desire to deliver the best care possible to cancer patient in a clinical research environment
  • Proven success in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, history of success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research.
