Function/Duties of Position

General Hematology including Hemophilia, Hemostasis and Thrombosis

 

The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine and include: participate in the education of medical students and house staff in accordance with assignments to the department by the Curriculum Committee and Chair; care of patients with hematologic disease; establish and maintain a program of scholarly activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection and treatment of hematologic disease; participate in administrative committees and councils of the OHSU as approved by the Chair and Division Head; engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the Chair and Division Head.

 

It is anticipated your job will be made up of the following components: Clinical, Teaching Research/Academic, and In-Patient Service. 

 

Successful candidates will have a good background in all aspects of General Hematology including Hemostasis and Thrombosis. They should have the ability to work across disciplines in an integrative fashion and be effective teachers. 

 

Selected candidates will be offered an extraordinary opportunity to integrate their clinical and research programs into a highly dynamic environment.  The General Hematology service has an active inpatient and outpatient consult service.  The service also has strong collaborations with our Pediatric colleagues and services such as Vascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology.  The Hemophilia Center is the regional core of the HRSA-funded Mountain States Hemophilia Network.  With active clinical, research, and educational programs, the Hemophilia Center is a national leader in transforming the care for those affected by bleeding and clotting disorders.

Required Qualifications

  • MD OR MD/PhD
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board eligible/certified in Hematology and or/Medical Oncology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven success in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, history of success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research
  • Desire to deliver the best care possible to cancer patients in a clinical research environment.
  • Our ideal candidate must possess a proven track record of teaching, basic, clinical or population research and patient care excellence.
