About the Position: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Army Medical Center Madigan to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.This position is located at Madigan Army Medical Center.

Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest on the Puget Sound, in Washington State, Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) is near the city of Lakewood, 10 minutes from Tacoma and 20 minutes from Olympia, the state capitol. Responsibilities

Major Duties

  • Perform a wide variety of complex ultrasound examinations of human patients to aid in the diagnosis of disease or injury.
  • Explain the ultrasound examining process to the patient.
  • Extend and/or modify the procedure to ensure full and accurate information.
  • Select, set up, adjust, and operate ultrasound equipment.
  • Train radiologists, physician assistants, students, and other personnel in ultrasound principles, procedures, capabilities, techniques and equipment.
  • Perform operator level maintenance and care of equipment.

 

Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing ultrasound procedures; providing ultrasound guidance for diagnostic procedures; and maintenance of ultrasound equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).OREducation: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Sonography or Radiology. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts)ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts)Preferred: Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with experience in vascular (VT), obstetrics (OB), and/or breast (BR) exams.
