Your new role

This role is to undertake a range of inspections and enforcement duties including reactive and proactive projects. The role will primarily be within the Food Safety team and will include activities such as   food sampling, complaint work, infectious disease, revisits to ensure work has been undertaken, evidence gathering, investigations, informal and formal action which may include the issuing of enforcement notices. The role will require you to be able to visit businesses in the city and also resident’s homes in respect of complaints. The work will centre around food safety and the enforcement of legislative requirements relating to food hygiene and standards as well as other associated matters e.g. health and safety/waste/pest issues in food businesses.

What you'll need to succeed

In addition to meeting the requirements of the JD Candidates will need to have/develop a relevant knowledge and experience area(s) of food safety/science including the investigation of cases and dealing with criminal proceeding. They will need to be good communicators verbally and in writing, at ease with IT, databases and monitoring systems, comfortable when dealing with competing agendas of stakeholders, and enthusiastic and driven to achieve the best outcomes. Essentially team players with flexibility in respect of out of hours work requirements to ensure the needs of the service. They need to be in tune with the values and behaviours expected at SCC.
