About the Position

Reporting the Vice President, this is a leadership position responsible for the overall management, supervision, coordination and administration of all commissioning work on LUMA transmission or distribution projects. This position supports LUMA through the planning and delivery of the Commissioning phase of new capital projects and is responsible for the effective planning and assigning appropriate LUMA resources.

What will you get up to everyday?

  • This position is responsible for all commissioning planning, monitoring, supervising and reporting on Contractors as required.
  • Responsible for assigning Commissioning resources to projects for execution, including managing interfaces with other departments and contractors during commissioning and ensure that all Project deliverables are completed.
  • Evaluate and monitor the quality process within their area of responsibility, assuring that every aspect of their work and services meet or exceed customer expectations and are consistent with the quality goals of the company.
  • Provide daily direction and mentorship to commissioning resources to ensure that Processes, Procedures, Quality Assurance and inspection programs are being adhered to.
  • Strong ability to develop and deliver effective presentations and facilitate meetings as related to strategy, training, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and external groups, and ability to document and organize project communications.
  • Proven skills in Project Execution and Contractor Management. Must be able to understand contract terms and conditions and the ability to manage to the terms and conditions of the contract.
  • Must be able to understand & interpret engineering drawings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.

Education

  • Graduate from a recognized Electrical Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma Program.
  • Trade Designation as a Power System Electrician or advanced certificate course in power systems, protective relaying theory, and computerized protection relaying theory and practice would be an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a large electrical utility environment with knowledge in design, construction, and commissioning of electric utility systems, equipment and components.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License and First Aid Training is required.
