About this role

Overview

The Executive DirectorĀ is responsible forĀ fundraising, relationship management with key stakeholders, andĀ theĀ overallĀ leadershipĀ of theĀ AmeriCorps programĀ in Maryland.Ā Ā This individual will set the vision and direction forĀ theĀ stateĀ program(s)Ā andĀ will effectively leadĀ theirĀ team to maximize impactĀ for individuals served by the program, while also providing an exceptional service experience for our AmeriCorps members and partnering sites.Ā

As one of the first staff positions supporting this Ampact in Maryland, this role plays a key part in building a new team and helping establish foundational structures, relationships, and processes that will support long‑term program growth and impact.

Responsibilities

Fundraising & Resource DevelopmentĀ 

  • Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan in collaboration with theĀ Senior Vice President of Regional Leadership, achieving targeted revenue goals.Ā 
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with corporations, foundations, and donors to diversify and grow private sector revenue.Ā 
  • Lead grant writingĀ strategiesĀ for philanthropic, state, and federal funding sources.Ā 
  • Engage the advisory board and key influencers to secure financial support and steward donor relationships.Ā 
  • Partner with marketing to strengthen brand presence and support fundraising communications.Ā 

Relationship Management & External EngagementĀ 

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with funders, partners, government agencies, and community leaders to advance program success.Ā 
  • Represent the organization with external stakeholders, legislators, and educational leaders,Ā advocating forĀ program adoption and support.Ā 
  • Direct and oversee stakeholder visits and site engagement to deepen external partnerships.Ā 
  • Collaborate with the advisory board to ensure alignment with community, political, and educational landscapes.Ā 

Program Growth & LeadershipĀ 

  • Provide vision and leadership to ensure program fidelity, high-quality member and partner experiences, and compliance with AmeriCorps regulations.Ā 
  • Drive recruitment and retention strategies to meet enrollment and retention goals for AmeriCorps members.Ā 
  • Lead program expansion into new communities, ensuring readiness of new sites for successful implementation.Ā 
  • Oversee program budgets, aligning resources with fundraisingĀ targetsĀ and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.Ā 
  • Use program data and evaluation findings to inform continuous improvement and maximize student outcomes.Ā 

Qualifications

Minimum EducationĀ 

  • Bachelor’s degreeĀ Ā 

Minimum ExperienceĀ 

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in organizational management, programĀ management, or related fieldĀ or industry.Ā 
  • Proven success in fundraising and strategic partnerships, with experience managing philanthropic and community relationships; deep local connections preferred.Ā 
  • Experience navigating public policy and political environments to build support and secure resources.Ā 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans and consistently achieve or exceed goals.Ā 
  • Strong communicationĀ skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into practical solutions.Ā 
  • Passion for service and mission-driven work that improves student and community outcomes.Ā
