We have an exciting opportunity for a Peer Mentor and Volunteer Coordinator for West Kent Prisons (HMP Rochester, Cookham Wood Maidstone and East Sutton Park) Our focus is to facilitate recovery, reinforce hope and support lifestyle change with prisoners engaging with our service. 

  

No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key.

 

Where: HMP West Kent Prisons  

Hours: 37.5 per week

Contract: Permanent 

 

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours. 

 

Responsibilities

About the Role:

 

  • Case management responsibility for all Peer Mentors throughout their recovery journey. 
  • Deliver Certa Level 1/2 Accredited Peer Mentoring training. 
  • Work within the Certa quality assurance guidelines in relation to the training and assessing of Peer Mentor qualifications. 
  • To champion recovery within the project through promoting Peer led activities. 
  • Attend meetings appropriate to the development and maintenance of the Peer Mentor scheme in agreement with and under the direction of the line manager. 
  • Utilise psychosocial interventions in both one-to-one and group settings to promote engagement in treatment services, encourage self-esteem, well-being, self-responsibility and enhanced motivation for personal change and ownership of recovery planning. 
  • Develop and review SMART recovery/treatment plans and referrals for psychosocial interventions. Liaise closely with the full range of specialist workers within a multi-disciplinary team, including wrap around services and external supporting agencies. 
  • Liaise with community services to ensure effective continuity of care for all Peer Mentors that engage with CGL

 

 

About You:

 

 

  • Experience of working within a prison/criminal justice setting
  • Sensitivity in working with complex and diverse cultural issues

Salary Range (pro rata if part time)

CGL points 23 to 28 (£28,557.79 - £32,802.41)
