The Maintenance I position is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment throughout hospital and clinic facilities. Responsible for general mechanical, electrical and plumbing task, inspections, monitoring activities, servicing, making repairs and overhaul of equipment and facilities. Plan, organize and complete complex projects. Serves as a subject matter expert, with little to no supervision, in areas such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc.

Responsibilities
- Maintains, installs, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems in a healthcare environment.
- Scope includes communication and nurse call systems, medical gases, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, pneumatic tube systems, audiovisual/PA, and related building and clinical equipment.
- Performs multi-trade tasks, reads blueprints, safely uses hand and power tools, and conducts preventive maintenance and life safety inspections.
- Completes documentation to support regulatory compliance, collaborates with and may guide others or vendors, and provides rotating weekend/holiday and on-call coverage with strong communication and customer service to ensure a safe, reliable environment of care.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification:
- Valid Iowa driver’s license for at least three years with an acceptable or clear rating according to the Motor Vehicle Record chart. (see below).
- Must have a minimum of two years driving experience with no record of DUI, DWI, or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past five years.
- No record of reckless driving, careless driving, speeding over 15 miles above the speed limit, fleeing or eluding a police officer, chemical test refusal, leaving the scene of an accident, driving after revocation or suspension, or passing a stopped school bus in the last five years.
Other:
- Able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Basic computer Knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email and web browser.
- Use of basic hand tools and power equipment.
- One to two related training and experience with familiarity of tools and materials needed for individual job preferred
