About this role

Overview

The Resource Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) serves as a flexible, high-impact leader providing interim leadership coverage across Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs) and Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals (LTACHs). This role ensures continuity of therapy operations, clinical excellence, labor optimization, and regulatory compliance during leadership vacancies, leaves of absence, and periods of operational need. The Resource DOR also supports new hospital openings, leadership development, and targeted performance improvement initiatives as assigned by the Therapy Corporate Directors.

Responsibilities

Interim Leadership Coverage

· Assume full DOR responsibilities at assigned IRF and LTACH facilities during vacancies or leaves of absence

· Ensure continuity of therapy operations, including staffing, scheduling, and compliance with regulatory and company standards

· Maintain adherence to setting-specific requirements (IRF therapy intensity/3-hour rule; LTACH medical complexity and interdisciplinary coordination)

· Provide immediate operational stabilization, including workforce alignment and prioritization of patient care needs

Labor Management & Workforce Optimization

· Assist the Therapy Corporate Directors in the evaluation and management of therapy staffing models to align with patient census and productivity expectations

· Assist in the adjustment of staffing plans (FT, PRN, contract labor) to ensure appropriate coverage while managing labor costs

· Partner with facility leadership to address staffing gaps, retention challenges, and recruitment needs, as assigned

· Monitor and improve productivity, utilization, and scheduling efficiency at the assigned hospitals

· Assist the Therapy Corporate Directors in the education and coaching of DORs and therapy teams on effective labor management strategies and accountability

 

New Program Development & Hospital Openings

· Support new IRF and LTACH program launches, including therapy program development and operational readiness as assigned

· Train and onboard newly hired Directors of Rehabilitation and therapy staff

· Lead education on functional scoring, documentation standards, and regulatory expectations (IRF-focused)

· Assist in establishing workflows, staffing models, and therapy delivery structures

Staff Onboarding & Training

· Provide hands-on onboarding for therapy staff to ensure alignment with company processes and clinical expectations

· Assist the Therapy Corporate Directors and local hospital leadership to deliver targeted education on functional outcomes and functional scoring (IRF), documentation accuracy and compliance (IRF & LTACH), and productivity expectations

· Assist the Therapy Corporate Directors to mentor new and developing DORs to build leadership capability and consistency

Performance Improvement & Outcomes Support

· As assigned by the Therapy Corporate Directors, deploy to underperforming IRF and LTACH hospitals to assess operational, clinical, and labor-related gaps

· Analyze performance data including functional outcomes (IRF), length of stay, participation, progression, and labor utilization as assigned by the Therapy Corporate Directors

· Partner with facility leadership to implement targeted action plans as assigned by the Therapy Corporate Directors

· Drive measurable improvements in patient outcomes, compliance, and cost efficiency as assigned by the Therapy Corporate Directors

 

Operational & Clinical Excellence

· Promote best practices in therapy delivery across both settings

· Ensure timely evaluations and appropriate plan of care development

· Balance clinical quality with efficient resource utilization

Qualifications

Education and Training:

 

Current professional licensure in good standing as PT, OT, or SLP. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain professional licensure in all states in which PAM Health operates, as needed to support organizational operations. Current BLS certification is required.

 

Experience:

 

3–5+ years of experience as a Director of Rehabilitation in IRF and/or LTACH settings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Strong knowledge of IRF regulations (including functional scoring and CMS requirements) and LTACH clinical operations

· Demonstrated experience with labor management, staffing models, and productivity optimization
