About this role

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an Engineering Process Commissioning Specialist to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex at the Uranium Processing Facility! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring validation and implementation of UPF safety basis and technical design requirements in preparation for readiness.

  • Review technical adequacy of safety basis and safety basis support documents.

  • Review technical adequacy of drawings, specifications and other design documents that implement safety basis requirements.

  • Implement validation and verification of technical design requirements in drawings, specifications and other design documents.

  • Verify results of acceptance testing to ensure that design criteria and safety basis requirements are adequately demonstrated.

  • Lead facility and systems operational readiness by preparation and verification of readiness affirmation evidence packages.

Requirements

  • Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Physical Science (Chemistry Physics, or related) and 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

  • Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

  • Experience in coordinating engineering effort.

  • Demonstrated technical capabilities, leadership, and work ethic.

  • Ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders.

About the Site

The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium. Y-12 supports efforts to reduce nuclear proliferation risk and performs work for other government agencies (energy.gov).
