About this role

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting the Oak Ridge National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

  • Model utility system/facility power systems using SKM and conduct the necessary analysis which includes short circuit analysis, protective device coordination, equipment evaluation, arc flash and shock hazard analysis.

  • Engage in meetings and walkthroughs to understand and quantify the scope of work and gather data from facility electrical systems.

  • Extract crucial information from electrical drawings, legacy drawings, field data, and submittals.

  • Work with drafter to update electrical drawings based on the SKM model

  • Develop reports for engineering studies.

  • Format the results and provide recommendations to remedy power system deficiencies.

  • Report creation utilizing software packages to create analysis reports on the facility electrical systems.

  • Label printing of safety identification for equipment per the generated reports.

Requirements

  • Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

  • Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

  • Ability to utilize software packages to model electrical systems.

  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, NEC and/or NESC.

  • Familiar with electrical drawings (specifically one-lines, power plans, and panel schedules).
