Overview

Summary/ ObjectiveThe position of a Technician I is responsible for day-to-day activities performed in client facilities and to perform work toward its projects’ goal of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Service. A Technician I will perform work as required to maximize the quality of the Company while maintaining the specified expectations of the client and ensure safe working environment while performing work. They will conduct all Company business in accordance with Company policies and procedures and maintain professionalism throughout all business dealings, both internally and externally. This is considered a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.1. Provides helper functions as directed for all services provided by the division. These services include, but are not limited to, hydro blasting chemical cleaning, vacuum and sewer truck operating, tank cleaning, dewatering and other work assignments. Performs work with a cheerful outlook and in a professional, safe manner.2. Loads hoses, chemicals and other equipment required for assigned job onto truck. (Necessary materials to be designated by supervisor)3. Hooks up and breaks down hoses using proper tools, gaskets, and Teflon tape, when directed by supervisor.4. Cleans up work area and equipment after work is completed. Assists in maintaining a safe, clean workplace, change room, locker area and customer’s plant.5. Assist in the inspection of equipment, hoses, connections, pumps, and general work area prior to starting any job. Informs supervisor of deficiencies, which may cause accidents, injuries, or lost productivity.6. Reports to work on scheduled time. If unable to show up for assigned work, notifies supervisor no less than two (2) hours in advance of scheduled time. Wears company pager or near person at all times.7. Wears the personnel protective equipment prescribed by posted signs, written instructions, and work permits. Also wears additional protective equipment specified by the supervisor or Customer Safety Department.8. Promotes safety through own actions and work habits. Reports all accidents and near misses, involving self, company vehicles or other job personnel to supervisor immediately.9. Performs Hazard Recognition Awareness to remove all hazards from the workplace.10. Complies with all applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the company and customer.11. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor and management personnel.12. Develops a basic working knowledge of all equipment that is utilized in performing assigned duties.

Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position will have no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a petrochechemical / refinery environment. Exposure to cold working conditions during winter months and hot working conditions during the summer months; exposure to noise, workers must wear protecting hearing equipment or frequently shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. In an emergency situation, exposure to hazardous chemicals may occur and the use of a respirator is required.

 

Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The position of a Technician I can be extremely physical at times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required, and for long periods of time to bend, stoop, walk, climb, squat, reach, kneel, push/pull, stand, sit, hand strength and dexterity. A Technician I will frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift more than 51 pounds. Move about on hands and feet, bending body downward and forward bending leg and spine- working in a bent over position. Ability to verbally communicate alarms or warnings clearly, concisely, loudly, and quickly. Sensing physical attributes such as size, shape, temperature, texture, or sharpness of an object by touching. Must possess foot agility and dexterity- operating pedals, foot controls, kick bars and other similar tasks that require foot or toe motion. Grasp, grip and/or apply pressure to an object with the fingers, palm, holding an object in the hand. Lift, raise or lower objects in a vertical direction, particularly heavy or bulky objects. Move objects backwards, forward, in or out in a horizontal direction, particularly heavy or bulky objects. Pulling, exerting a steady backward, downward, upward, or outward force against an object- jerking, wrenching, stretching, towing, drawing, dragging, or tugging objects in sustained motion. Reaching, extending the hand (s) and/or arm(s) in any direction. See, read, write, and understand communication including directions, instructions, and warning signs. Ability to see and distinguish colors, to visually distinguish shapes and patterns, to accurately sense distances (depth perception), to accurately see objects and detect motion and wide angles (peripheral vision). Must have the ability to properly wear and use all required PPE.

 

Position Type/ Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are variable/ project dependent. Over-time work is common and may be required as job duties demand.

 

TravelTravel is expected. Extensive travel throughout U.S. and overnight stay for extended periods of time.

Required Education and ExperienceMinimum age of 18 years. High school diploma or equivalent

 

Preferred Education and ExperienceFirst Aid and CPR trained.
