Job Summary

We’re looking for a battle-ready Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Operations) who thrives in the chaos of high-volume precision machining. You’ll own CNC process development, path planning, and tool optimization across a fleet of multi-axis machines—engineering components that defend the U.S. homeland with precision measured in microns. If you can plan complex toolpaths, tune feeds and speeds by instinct, and make machines sing under pressure, we want you in the fight.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead CNC path planning and G-code generation for high-precision parts (lathe work required; 5-axis a plus).

• Program and optimize CNC operations in Mastercam—from toolpath strategy to post-processing.

• Select and qualify cutting tools, inserts, and materials for maximum performance and efficiency.

• Design and validate custom workholding and fixturing to reduce setup time and increase throughput.

• Analyze cycle times, tool wear, and process variation across multiple machines to drive improvements.

• Integrate and optimize robotic part loading/unloading systems and automated machining cells.

• Troubleshoot CNC, tooling, and programming issues in real time with production teams.

• Create and maintain setup sheets, standard work instructions (SWIs), and process documentation under ISO 9001 standards.

• Partner with maintenance and engineering teams to support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 5+ years in CNC machining environments with proven high-volume production optimization.

  • Deep experience in lathe operations; exposure to 5-axis machining highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple machines and custom workholding setups.

Technical Skills:

  • Mastercam (mandatory).

  • G-code creation and modification (Fanuc, Siemens, or Okuma controls).

  • Tool selection and material optimization for steels, alloys, and high-temp materials.

  • Process troubleshooting and cycle-time reduction.

  • CAD/CAM integration using SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

Work Style: Hands-on, detail-obsessed, and relentless in pursuit of efficiency.

Soft Skills: Analytical thinker; collaborative under pressure; strong communicator on the shop floor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Okuma control experience (a plus).

• Exposure to integrated robotics and automated machining cells.

• Familiarity with ERP/MRP and DNC systems.

• Background in defense, aerospace, or high-precision manufacturing (preferred but not required).

Work Environment

You’ll be embedded in our CNC operations center—surrounded by high-speed machining, robotics integration, and a team obsessed with operational excellence. Some travel may be required for supplier qualification and equipment commissioning.

Benefits

• Competitive salary

• Paid time off + holidays

• Career growth in a fast-scaling defense manufacturing startup
