Expanded Learning Assistant - Aftercare High Tech Elementary North County - San Marcos   Reports To: Aftercare Coordinator/ Director  FLSA Classification: Hourly Classified Full Time/Part Time Status: Part-Time, non-exempt Regular Framework: Hourly Pay Range:  Step1, Hourly Framework. Range: $20.00 -$24.38. Salary is commensurate with verified experience. Benefits: This position does not qualify for benefits  Application Opening Date: 5/28/26 Application Closing Date: 6/30/26   Summary   The after-school program is an important element of the school day experience. Our Expanded Learning Assistants play unique roles as mentors, tutors, activity leaders, and sports coaches. In addition to providing a safe and quiet place for students to study or receive extra tutoring, our program also offers enrichment opportunities during our regularly school year afterschool programming.   About High Tech High    Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High (“HTH”) opened in September 2000 as a small public project-based charter school with plans to serve approximately 450students. HTH has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately 6,500 students in grades K-12 across four San Diego County campuses (Point Loma, Clairemont, North County, and Chula Vista). The HTH organization also includes a comprehensive adult learning environment including a Teacher Credentialing Program and the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, offering professional development opportunities serving national and international educators.  This position is in-person and on-campus.   Key Responsibilities:   - Supervise school-aged children indoors and outdoors - Maintain an orderly, safe, and organized environment for the students - Take attendance to ensure that all students are accounted for - Plan, develop and run engaging student activities - Assist students with virtual learning activities and homework assignments - Understand and implement emergency procedures, including safety protocols - Perform related duties as assigned   Qualifications:   - High School Diploma or equivalent preferred - Experience working with students - Ability to work well with school-aged students - Comfortable leading enrichment activities with students Inform and communicate effectively - Ability to work with diverse populations   Clearances:   Tuberculosis Clearance and Department of Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance criminal records summary     Working Conditions  Environment: Indoor and outdoor setting    Physical Abilities:     ● Sitting or standing for extended periods of time  ● Hearing and speaking to communicate and exchange information  ● Seeing to observe accuracy of reports and documents ● Dexterity of hand and finger to operate office equipment ● Bending at the waist, kneeling , and reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and other items as needed.   An offer of employment will be subject to the successful completion of a background check.
