The Cloud Computing Specialist – SME provides foundational cloud advisory and engineering support for the DLA CCIS program. The role emphasizes entry-to-mid level expertise in cloud technologies, security, and operations within DoD-aligned environments.

Responsibilities:
· Assist with cloud solution design, implementation, and operations across DoD-approved cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, OCI) in support of CCIS objectives.
· Support system engineering activities related to cloud architecture, networking, security controls, and compliance documentation under guidance.
· Contribute to RMF/NIST-based security controls mapping, risk assessments, and plan-of-action/milestones (POA&Ms) preparation with mentorship.
· Help maintain and update runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and engineering diagrams for cloud and on-premises components.
· Stay informed about DoD cloud initiatives, RMF guidance, and vendor-specific best practices; contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
· Provide training and mentorship to junior team members and assist with knowledge transfer activities.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
· 10 years of specialized IT experience (entry-level to early-career); applicable intern/co-op experience in cloud or IT environments is a plus.
· Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is not strictly required but strongly preferred for progression into more advanced responsibilities (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related fields).
· Demonstrated interest or foundational knowledge in cloud platforms and security concepts; willingness to learn and obtain required certifications.
Certifications (Must-have and required or near-term attainment):
· ISC² Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or equivalent foundational cloud security certification (if CCSP not yet earned, please indicate plan and timeline to obtain).
· DoD 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., CompTIA IAT II, or approved DoD 8570 baseline).
· Google Cloud certifications: Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE) or Professional Cloud Architect (PCA).
· Plus one of the following for cloud operations domain:
o AWS: any listed certification (e.g., Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect – Associate, Professional, etc.)
o Azure: Administrator, Architect, or Security certifications
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI): Cloud Ops certification or equivalent
