Session Physician

POSITION SUMMARY Session physician would provide vasectomies in our Schenectady and/or Newburgh health centers. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Direct Clinical Care (90%): Provides vasectomies under local anesthesia. Clinical Consultation and Training (5%): Provides clinical consultation to advance practice physicians. Administrative (5%): Participates in Center chart audit procedures and reviews laboratory and diagnostic reports as appropriate. Reports to the Regional Medical Director on all medical complications and other matters as needed. Participates in PPGNY’s quality management activities, including Debriefings and Root Cause Analyses, as required. Ensures compliance with PPGNY’s and regulatory agencies’ standards and guidelines. Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and standard practices in the areas of customer service, ADA and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA. Demonstrated ability to manage health-related emergency conditions including independent decision making. Ability to exercise discretion in the handling of confidential information Ability to demonstrate and document evidence-based clinical judgment  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education Related Capability Requirements: Requires successful completion of coursework culminating in certification either as Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy and active status for certification by the American Board of Urology or the American Board of Family Medicine.  Must be licensed to practice in New York State. Experience Related Capability Requirements: Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with vasectomy provision. Requires basic computer/EMR proficiency. Licensures/Certifications: Current NYS Physician License and Registration. Current BLS certification.
