Job Purpose:

The Prevention Team Lead is responsible for leading the development, coordination, and delivery of culturally grounded prevention programs that support the health and well-being of Cold Lake First Nations families and community members living in and around the Edmonton Area. This role provides leadership to a team of prevention workers and works collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to ensure services are responsive, inclusive, and aligned with community values.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of culturally appropriate prevention programs
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver holistic prevention initiatives
  • Develop annual work plans and program calendars based on community needs
  • Supervise and support a team of prevention workers
  • Provide mentorship, training, and performance evaluations
  • Foster a culturally safe and trauma-informed work environment
  • Community Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with community members, Elders, youth, and families
  • Facilitate outreach and engagement sessions to inform program development
  • Promote awareness of prevention services through events and workshops
  • Participate in joint case management with other service providers
  • Identify service gaps and advocate for additional support
  • Maintain accurate records, statistics, and reports for internal and funding purposes
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements
  • Assist in budget planning and funding proposals
  • Ensure compliance with policies, funding agreements, and legislation
  • Representing FCSS in interagency meetings and community events
  • Responsible for developing the annual work and associated budget for community prevention and early intervention supports
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a relevant role, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Child, Youth, & Family Enhancement Act of Alberta (CYFEA) and other relevant Alberta legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience with program development, implementation, and
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultural protocols, traditions, and the history of Cold Lake First
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a
  • Experience with budget management and grant writing is an
  • Strong organizational and time management
  • Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

 

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 2:00pm. Working hours can vary and/or flexible depending on type of assignment or work plan
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting but requires frequent travel within the Edmonton area and to community
  • Regular evening and weekend work may be required to attend meetings, events, and community engagement sessions.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials for events (e.g., promotional materials, workshop supplies) up to 20
