We’re looking for someone who will maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and conditioning equipment and systems. The right candidate will also maintain the safe operation of complex systems and equipment, which may include hydronic cooling and heating systems, DX split and packaged AC units, pumps, heat exchangers, air compressors, steam systems, steam traps, PRV stations and humidifiers. You will need to understand BAS controls, chiller operations, pump operations, hydronic and air handling systems. Our Service Technician needs to work safely, be innovative, take pride in a job well done, and do your work with integrity.

What You’ll Do:

  • Repair of:
    • Centrifugal chillers,
    • DX packaged units, split systems, and air-cooled chillers,
    • Centrifugal water pumps (seals, bearings, impellers, and shafts),
    • Cooling towers,
    • Small MRI chillers,
    • Humidifiers,
    • Low temperature & ice machines; and
    • Computer room cooling systems.
  • Replacement of AHU fan bearings, fans, shafts, coils, and motor bearings.
  • Dial indicator and laser alignment of belt driven and direct coupled equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment, and routine repair & calibration after installation.
  • Uses experience and technical skills with preventive maintenance and system operations to determine service requirements.
  • Work with a team to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Work in a safe manner daily and ensure that all safety measures are always taken.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is an individual contributor role, and the face of Batchelor & Kimball to our customers. To be successful, you need to present a clean, professional & organized demeanor, and work well on your own as well as on a team. You’ll also require sound communication skills and be able to deliver a sense of comfort, reliability, and can-do attitude to our end users, communicate complex terms customers and confirm their understanding.

What you’ll need (minimum qualifications):

  • Strong electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Strong HVAC and refrigeration skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Strong overall system troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to source materials and estimate repair quotes if required
  • Prior work experience and educational requirements
  • Will require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or a technical program.
  • 3+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience
  • EPA certification
  • Clean driving record, background check and drug free
  • Flexibility to work overtime, on-call and weekends, as required
  • Meet all physical requirements of working in the HVAC field, including operating applicable tools, comfortable working at heights as well as indoor & outdoor

Good to have:

  • Understanding of steam system components (traps, Spence regulators, humidifiers, and heat exchangers)
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical blueprints
  • Understands basics of building automation systems
  • Understands basics of building automation systems
