Reports to Country Manager

Job Overview

The Business Development Manager would be directly responsible for the overall building of The organization’s market position in their different locations, by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships whilst achieving measurable financial growth for the company.

She/He must have a thorough knowledge of the market, have the capacity to strategically plan and execute BD KPI’s. The qualified candidate must have the ability to identify The organization’s untapped potentials and be able to develop unique selling propositions for the company in the marketplace. The person must be willing to network, pitch and convince potential clients to do business with the company.

Responsibilities:

  1. To define long-term organizational business strategic goals, build customer relationships with existing clients, identify new business opportunities, negotiate, and close business deals and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions.
  2. Carry out extensive market survey and mapping and provide detailed report on trends.
  3. Responsible to increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue for the organization.
  4. Identify potential new customers, nurture them, and ultimately convert them into clients, and continue to grow the portfolio.
  5. Responsible for the management of the current clients and development of new businesses.
  6. Collaborate with local businesses to acquire all necessary resources and services.
  7. Collaborate with the country manager to strategize how best to roll out product line.
  8. Elaborate and review reports to acquire understanding of the organization’s financial and non-financial position.
  9. Network, pitch and convince potential clients to do business with the company.
  10. Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets.
  11. Responsible to collaborate the activities of others responsible to developing business for the company.
  12. Participate in pricing, quotations for clients and prospects as well as being familiar with policies and regulation in industries of interest to our business.
  13. Attend industry functions, such as association events and chamber of commerce conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  14. Present to and consult with mid-level management on business trends, potentials, pipeline, targets and forecast.
  15. Understand the company’s goal and purpose so that will be continual to enhance the company’s performance.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree qualified ideally in Social Sciences, Business Administration and Humanities etc. Membership of a relevant Professional body is desirable.
  • 8-10 years relevant experience.

Skills    

  • Demonstrate high level of interpersonal, writing skills, organisation, Negotiation, presentation and effectively communicate skills.
  • Must be familiar with Uganda consulting environment.
  • Must have high knowledge of excel reporting, forecasting, business tools usage and Microsoft office.
  • Strong understanding of the local politics to enforce laws and regulations
  • Analytical thinker with superior problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate high level of proficiency in pricing, quotation and proposal drafting
  • Can consistently meet competing demands through effective prioritizing in a result oriented and client-focused environment.
  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence, leadership, and soft skills attributes.
  • Good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to influence others about them.
  • Experience in the use of CRM, and clients/candidates’ databases.
