Job Description

The Bridge Section in Oslo is looking for a dedicated and experienced bridge engineer. At AFRY, you will become a key employee and one of the driving forces in our continued development. AFRY’s Bridge Section in Norway consists of 30 employees, located in offices in Trondheim and Oslo. We also have a network of over 100 bridge professionals across the Nordic region. Our daily work is characterized by collaboration across locations and national borders.

The Bridge Section is part of the Transportation business area, a team of 139 employees specializing in bridges, roads, water and wastewater, geotechnics, engineering geology, environmental geology, and project development. It’s a forward-thinking group with a high level of job satisfaction and great development opportunities for each individual. We continuously work on development in areas such as work methodology, project execution, sustainability, and parametric design. As a senior bridge engineer, you will naturally contribute to this work and have significant influence.

You key responsibilities are:

  • Designing all types of structures in infrastructure projects
  • Innovation to further improve our professional environment
  • Actively contributing to knowledge sharing within the section

Our projects range from large infrastructure projects like E105 Gjønnestunnelen, E18 Langangen–Rugtvedt, and Farriseidet–Telemark border (Vestfold Railway) to other bridge projects like Tunna bridge, Frogner bridges, Saupstad Bridge and Loftesnes Bridge.

Qualifications

Must have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing bridges and structures
  • Software skills: Grasshopper/Rhino and Tekla Structures/AutoCAD
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree
  • Good English skills at B2-C1 level
  • Teamwork skills and a structured, solution-oriented, quality-conscious approach

Good to have:

  • Experience with infrastructure projects in Norway and Norwegian handbooks (Statens vegvesens håndbøker)
  • Experience in multidisciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Good understanding of structural design and ability to see the big picture in projects
  • Very good English skills at C1-C2 level
