Academic Interventionist

TITLE: ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONIST

CLASSIFICATION: PART-TIME, NON-EXEMPT

REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL

DEPARTMENT: STUDENT SERVICES

Overview of Position:

The Academic Interventionist’s role is to help students continue to show academic growth in reading and math. Academic Interventionists are responsible for planning and instructing small group lessons, supporting students with exceptionalities in the general education classroom, and supporting students in a variety of settings at Calvin Christian School. 

A bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited university is preferred for the Academic Interventionist position.

Essential Duties

The following expectations for an Academic Interventionist at Calvin Christian School.

In teaching a class one is expected to:

• engage students' attention.
• follow plans as prepared by Student Service Plans
• collect and monitor student data
• develop rapport with students and be able to manage student behavior
• prepare and instruct lessons in reading and math with support of curriculum
• show interest and wonder in all learning.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in area of education or similar field preferred 

Experience 

• Experience working in a school and with children. 

Required Spiritual Qualifications 

• Must have and profess a personal and mature commitment to faith in Jesus Christ and affirm the school’s statement of faith/basis of instruction and mission statement. 
• Must believe, without reservation, and actively support the school’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs, and mission statement; possess a strong, clear Christian testimony; demonstrate a mature, godly spirit as a person of faith and prayer.

Supervisory Responsibility

None.

Required Hours

Monday through Friday during student attendance, hours are negotiable.

Pay & Benefits

This position is a part-time hourly position. Hourly pay ranges between $16-$18 (commensurate with experience). This roleis not eligible for benefits but does accrue Self-Care Time (SCT) per school policy.

Physical Requirements

• Sit and stand for long periods of time.
• Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
• Understand the speech of another person.
• Must be able to work in a demanding work environment.  
• The employee is regularly required to sit, walk, talk, read, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to type, handle, or feel and reach. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Travel Requirements

None.

Working Conditions 

Work is performed in a typical classroom environment. Must be able to work in an open room setting with moderate noise levels.
