SWIM TEACHER

1.       ROLE SUMMARY

The purpose of this role is to:

  • deliver high quality aquatic education programmes that will improve customers’ safety in and around water and enhance their experience and enjoyment of water-based activities

  1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Principal Accountabilities

Teaching Practices

  • Deliver the swim programme by using Bayswim teaching methods
  • Manage swimmers to ensure development of skills to achieve progression to next level
  • Assess and evaluate swimmers using Bayswim standards
  • Display enthusiasm and confidence in delivery of lessons
  • Minimum of 3 training sessions attended annually
  • Provide any required documentation as part of learners programmes to team leader.

Customer Service

  • Provide clear and accurate information to customers about facility services and programmes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, communication with swimmers is positive and encouraging and at appropriate level.

 

Equipment Management

  • Use, maintain and store programme equipment according to requirements and report loss or damage as soon as practicable.

 

Other

  • Any other duties as may reasonably be requested by your manager

Health and Safety

  • Comply with all Bay Venues Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Work in a manner that ensures the safety of self and others
  • Report to your manager any accident/incident that occurs in a timely manner

Qualifications

·         NCEA Level 2 or equivalent

·         Current First Aid Certificate

Technical Skills/Competencies



·         Proven ability to teach and manage groups, preferably children

·         Customer focused

 

·         Previous swim teaching experience

·         Enthusiastic, energetic and passionate

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·         Excellent time management skills

·         Level-headed when dealing with customer complaints or emergencies and able to escalate if required

·         Self- motivated and capable of working unsupervised.
