Job Description

🚀 This is a hybrid role with regular site presence in Bristol, so candidates must be within commutable distance or open to supported relocation.

This role supports the design and documentation of critical nuclear security systems. The position focuses on producing and maintaining system design manuals for complex integrated systems. Your future team supports commissioning readiness and system documentation across the wider project.

📄Produce and maintain detailed System Design Manuals for nuclear security systems
🔧Develop system descriptions, component sizing, diagrams and technical documentation
🧠Define instrumentation and control functional requirements aligned with safety inputs
📊Apply EPR engineering rules when defining I&C platform allocations and logic
🧩Coordinate with layout, CAD and building teams to integrate system designs
🔍Conduct peer reviews of I&C documentation produced by engineering colleagues
⚙️Support commissioning teams with documentation and technical system inputs
📐Contribute to system logic testing, HMI definition and control system validation
🔁Manage system modifications and configuration changes across multidisciplinary teams
📚Ensure quality records and documentation support future system ownership

 

Qualifications

Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us.

We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.

🎓Degree in Electrical Engineering, chartered status desirable
📘Experience producing technical documentation such as system design manuals
🔌Knowledge of electrical or integrated security systems in industrial environments
📡Experience with systems such as CCTV, access control or IP networks
🧩Understanding of instrumentation and control system principles
🏭Experience working on operating plants or complex industrial sites
📑Ability to manage technical documentation and engineering deliverables
🔍Understanding of safety classification and regulated engineering environments
🔐Ability to obtain or hold UK Security Clearance at SC level
