About this role
We are looking for an Aqua Fitness Instructor to teach a shallow-water fitness class on Tuesdays from 7:30–8:30 AM. The position is available for an immediate start, and we are seeking an energetic, reliable instructor who enjoys motivating participants of all fitness levels. Additional opportunities may be available to teach other aquatic fitness class formats based on experience, interest, and scheduling availability.
Aqua Fitness Instructor Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESÂ
• Prepares aqua fitness lesson plans and selects exercises and activities to meet the program objectives Â
• Selects and prepares required materials and equipment for each classÂ
• Plans routines, chooses appropriate music, and selects movements for each set of musclesÂ
• Instructs participants on effective workout techniques and methods by explaining and demonstratingÂ
the exercisesÂ
• Welcomes participants, takes attendance at each class, and maintains accurate class listsÂ
• Provides a variety of exercises and movements to accommodate participants’ different levels of fitnessÂ
• Supervises participants in assigned area of pool, enforces pool rules, prevents accidents, and maintainsÂ
control during classesÂ
• Assists aquatic staff in inserting or removing lap lines and bringing equipment to the pool areaÂ
• Puts away and stores materials and equipment at the end of each class in a clean and orderly fashionÂ
• Works directly with participants and assists them in completing the day’s exercisesÂ
• Communicates with participants regularly regarding the progress in the programÂ
• Notifies the ARC Assistant Manager – Fitness of serious incidents, accidents, or inappropriate conduct andÂ
completes Incident/Accident forms, as neededÂ
• Attends work on a regular basisÂ
• Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, andÂ
the employee handbookÂ
• Maintains a clean and organized work environmentÂ
• Additional functions as assigned, which may be considered essential
