Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Cost Management team in Dubai. The successful candidate will work under the direction of Lead Quantity Surveyor, supporting the delivery of cost management services on large-scale, complex construction projects within a multidisciplinary design environment. As a key member of our organisation, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of quantity surveying for our construction projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with industry standards.

  • Steer in the preparation, review, and analysis of cost estimates and cost plans across key design stages, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project scope and approved budget.
  • Participate in design development meetings and workshops, providing cost input to support design decisions and ensure ongoing design‑to‑budget compliance.
  • Identify, track, and report key cost drivers, risks, and opportunities arising through design development, escalating matters as appropriate.
  • Assist in the preparation and ongoing management of commercial and cost risk registers, ensuring risks are actively monitored and mitigated throughout the design stages.
  • Undertake detailed quantity take‑offs and measurement from drawings and models to support cost planning, option studies, and tender documentation, as required.
  • Contribute to design‑led Value Engineering exercises, preparing comparative cost analyses and option evaluations to optimise project value without compromising quality or performance.
  • Prepare cost inputs and reports to support project steering, governance reviews, and client reporting, ensuring clarity of assumptions, risks, and budget status.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, consultants, and contractors to ensure coordinated, accurate, and timely cost information.
  • Ensure that all cost management deliverables comply with local regulations, client governance requirements, and international best practice (RICS / NRM).
  • Support contract administration activities during relevant stages, including assessment of variations, change orders, and claims, in accordance with contract conditions and project procedures.
  • Monitor and report on project cost performance, including expenditure tracking, forecasting, and support to cash flow reporting.
  • Assist in commercial discussions and negotiations with contractors and suppliers, under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior Quantity Surveyors, including review of outputs and support with professional development.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of quality control procedures across all quantity surveying and cost management activities.
  • Utilize industry‑standard digital tools and software to support measurement, cost planning, reporting, and coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional certification from a recognised body (e.g., RICS, CIOB)
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on large-scale construction projects.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience across multiple sectors, such as sports facilities and stadiums, hospitality developments, large urban and mixed‑use developments, healthcare, and education projects.
  • Experience in transportation infrastructure, including airports, aviation hubs, roads, utilities, and public realm works, will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Causeway) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • In-depth knowledge of construction practices and methodologies
  • Thorough understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and local construction regulations in the UAE
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills and capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working in the Middle East construction industry is highly desirable
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Arabic would be advantageous
  • Regional experience in high-profile stadiums and/or World Expo project, ensuring strict adherence to multi-million dollar budgets while navigating the complexities of fast-track global event deadlines
