Job Description

Structural Design Engineer for Steel Structures will be responsible, but not limited to structurally design, plan and oversee the projects’ construction process. This individual is primarily focused on the structural design that is safe, functional and efficient, serving the purpose identified by the Client.

List of typical duties and responsibilities 

  • Project technical assessment and design structural analysis to propose optimal solutions. 
  • Preparation of structural calculation models in engineering software, design calculations and technical specifications. 
  • Project value engineering. 
  • Taking decisions related to the design issues. 
  • Design input and advisory for the Project Manager/Engineer with coordination regarding the ongoing technical matters. 
  • Reporting to the Department Manager in regards of the work progress. 
  • Following up with the Project Consultant Engineers and the Resident Engineer. 
  • Liaison and coordination with other designers, engineers and architects to produce technically, economically and aesthetically optimized design. 
  • Working with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions, analyse soil investigation results and in situ tests. 
  • Providing expertise for structural assessment of the existing structures. Investigating existing structures for the purpose of technical survey in search of structural flaws and advisory how to improve their structural integrity. 
  • Checking, analysis and comparison of requirements between contract specifications, B.O.Q. and drawings for the project technical study purpose and clarifications with the Consultant. 
  • Attending meetings dedicated to the design related issues. 
  • Supervising the drafting team for the timely preparation of shop drawings and other submittals. 
  • Following up with Procurement Department, Suppliers and Subcontractors regarding material  suitability/availability for the design purpose and sup

Qualifications

  • Qualification: Degree Qualified in Structural 
  • Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in Steel Structure Engineering. 
  • Familiar with Infrastructural and Industrial Steel Structures but also Special and 
  • High-End Steel Structures of various purposes. 
  • Skills: Knowledge and advanced command of the design engineering computer software packages for structural analysis, modeling and drawing drafting purposes – e.g., Midas, SAP2000, Staad Pro, IDEA StatiCa, Revit, AutoCAD and other engineering tools – knowledge of RFEM software package would be an advantage. 
  • Experience and excellent understanding of best engineering practices, broad 
  • technical and structural knowledge in design techniques, standards and guidelines. 
  • Experienced with Eurocodes, the US and British design standards, as well as with 
  • local engineering guidelines and design manuals. 
  • Self-driven team player with organizational skills able to work independently. 
  • Proficient in MS Office and very good computer skills – programming experience 
  • would be an advantage. 
  • Driving license. 
  • Reports to Design Engineering Department Manager
