About this role
The City of Rockport is looking for a dependable and hardworking Street Maintenance Technician to join our Public Works team. If you enjoy working outdoors, operating equipment, and making a direct impact on your community, this is the role for you! You'll help maintain and improve the streets and infrastructure that keep Rockport moving forward.
What You’ll Do:
Help keep our community running smoothly and safely by maintaining and repairing city streets. As a Street Maintenance Technician, you'll be part of a hardworking team dedicated to making everyday travel better for everyone.
- Patch potholes, seal cracks, and repair road surfaces.
- Paint curbs, crosswalks, and other pavement markings.
- Clean and maintain storm drains and assist with streetlight repairs.
- Trim trees, install traffic control signs, and help with holiday decorations.
- Haul materials and debris and operate light- to medium-duty vehicles and equipment.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools to get the job done safely and effectively.
- Set up barricades and ensure work zones are clearly marked.
- Perform daily maintenance checks on tools and equipment.

- Ability to operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience in street maintenance or a similar role.
- Valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain one).
- Ability to perform basic math, follow directions, and work in all weather conditions.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Work is outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Requires walking, bending, lifting heavy objects, and operating machinery.
- Exposure to noise, dirt, grease, and traffic is common.
- Safety gear like gloves, goggles, and masks must be worn.
