Job Summary
The Electrician is responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of all electrical systems across the resort. The role ensures continuous, efficient operations in compliance with HEART/NCTVET occupational standards, the Jamaica Electrical Code, and resort safety policies, while supporting guest comfort, staff safety, and asset protection in a luxury hospitality environment. This position reports to the Engineer Manager.
Job Purpose
To perform electrical maintenance and repair functions that support uninterrupted resort operations, uphold regulatory compliance, and maintain high standards of safety, efficiency, and service excellence.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, test, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, lighting systems, panels, switches, outlets, motors, generators, and associated equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with established schedules and HEART/NCTVET competency standards.
- Diagnose electrical faults using approved testing instruments and apply corrective solutions promptly.
- Ensure all work complies with the Jamaica Electrical Code, Occupational Safety and Health regulations, and resort policies.
- Maintain emergency power systems, including generators and UPS systems.
- Complete maintenance logs, job cards, inspection reports, and compliance documentation accurately.
- Observe safe work practices, including lock-out/tag-out procedures and proper use of PPE.
- Support energy-efficiency, sustainability, and cost-control initiatives.
- Coordinate tasks with other engineering trades and external contractors as required.
- Maintain professionalism and discretion when working in guest and public areas.
Required Qualifications
- HEART/NCTVET Level 2 or Level 3 Certification in Electrical Installation or Industrial Electrical Maintenance (mandatory).
- Valid Trade Certificate or equivalent recognized in Jamaica.
- Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) certification is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years’ post-certification experience in electrical maintenance.
- Experience in a hotel, resort, or large commercial facility is preferred.
