Job Summary
The Management Accounting Trainee supports the Finance Department by assisting with financial reporting, reconciliations, budget monitoring, cost analysis, and other day-to-day accounting activities across resort operations. This is a two-year structured learning and development programme designed to prepare the candidate for a management position. The trainee works closely with experienced finance professionals to build practical experience in hospitality finance and internal controls.
Management Accounting Trainee primary responsibilities are:
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of management accounts, monthly reports, and performance summaries.
- Support budget preparation, variance analysis, forecasting, and cost monitoring.
- Prepare journal entries and assist with general ledger reconciliations and account analysis.
- Participate in accounts payable, receivable, and cash management tasks.
- Help maintain fixed assets, accrual, prepayment, and other supporting schedules.
- Work collaboratively with operational departments to gather information, ensuring that financial reporting reflects accurate guest-related service costs and data
- Work closely with the Assistant Controller and wider Finance Department team.
- Actively participate in the two-year structured learning and development programme.
- Review revenue, payroll, purchasing, inventory, and operating cost data for accuracy and completeness.
- Use Excel and accounting systems to analyze data, identify trends, and highlight exceptions to improve business performance analysis.
The ideal candidate must posses the minimum qualifications and experiences:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management studies, or a related discipline.
- Completed Level II ACCA or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence using financial systems/accounting software.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
