The Longboard [St. John] is a Caribbean-inspired coastal kitchen, focusing on fresh, local ingredients. We offer light and healthy fare and creative cocktails inspired by coastal regions around the globe. The Longboard celebrates the adventurous yet laid back ocean lifestyle of the islands, embracing St. John’s tropical setting, local flavors, and relaxed island mentality.

We are looking for dynamic team players who are self-motivated, dedicated, and have a strong passion for food and beverage! RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, efficient, energetic and thoughtful service at all times.
Ensure the efficient flow of orders from the servers to the kitchen.
Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority.
Assist in the final garnishment of dishes.
Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation, and temperature.
Deliver dishes to the tables and ensure the correct dish goes to the correct guest.
Transfer important information between the kitchen and the servers/bartenders.
Respond appropriately to any guest requests or issues by communicating effectively with the proper server or management.
Receive instructions from multiple sources and prioritize tasks effectively.
Recite basic menu knowledge and run food to tables if needed.
Stock, organize and prepare service-related items.
Communicate with Head Chef and/or Chef on Duty about all kitchen-related issues, menu changes and updates relating to service.
Control the flow of service.
Be knowledgeable of the restaurant and its history.
Ensure compliance with operational standards, health department regulations and all federal/state/local laws. Always follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
Communicate service standards, procedures, and systems to FOH staff. Ensure all staff is operating in strict accordance with the restaurant’s recipes and standards.
Communicate respectfully with coworkers at all levels.
Support other tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative attitude.
Must possess exceptional work ethic, strong attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
Receptive to constructive criticism and performance feedback.
Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment.
Understanding of the health, safety and sanitation rules and regulations.
