About this role

About Us

Duco is on a mission to reduce the time spent on data-related work by 90%. Our enterprise data automation platform empowers teams to work more efficiently and meaningfully by giving them the ability to automate data controls with the latest technology, such as no-code, the cloud, and AI.

We help firms to start trusting their data, by giving them one intuitive platform to automate the front-to-back processing of all kinds of data (from structured Excels and RTFs to unstructured PDFs and emails). This eliminates the boring manual work across the data lifecycle and enables firms to act faster, work smarter, save money, reduce risk and comply with regulatory requirements.

We’re headquartered in London and have offices in New York, Wroclaw, Singapore, and Antwerp. We’re proud to call some of the largest global financial institutions our clients, including over 15 of the world’s largest international banks, as well as brokers, exchanges, asset managers, hedge funds, administrators, service providers and corporates.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to lead the evolution of our observability capabilities. In this role, you’ll focus on designing and driving our observability systems, shaping dashboards and developing tooling that accelerates developer productivity. You will be a key contributor to standardising delivery practices, improving automation across the SDLC, and ensuring our systems are monitored, observable, and resilient.

This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll collaborate closely with engineering teams, guide best practices, and take ownership of mission-critical delivery and observability systems that support our growing customer base.

What you will be working on:

  • Own observability architecture: Design and implement unified logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Drive SLO-based operations: Establish service level objectives, dashboards, and alerting frameworks that enable proactive incident response.
  • Build observability tooling: Create internal tools that help engineering teams instrument services, diagnose issues, and self-serve their monitoring needs.
  • Lead incident response: Troubleshoot production issues hands-on and drive long-term remediation through root cause analysis and improved signal coverage. Participation in on-call duty.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines: Contribute to reliable delivery pipelines and maintain reusable templates using tools like GitLab CI, Flux, and Helm.
  • Integrate with platform systems: Ensure observability and delivery tooling works seamlessly with Kubernetes and cloud services.
  • Partner and mentor: Collaborate across teams to standardise instrumentation practices and raise the bar on observability standards organisation-wide.

Ideally, you will have

  • 5+ years in DevOps/Platform/Build Engineering, specialising in large-scale CI/CD and developer workflow optimization.
  • Proven observability design experience (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Jaeger/Tempo, OpenTelemetry, Honeycomb).
  • Strong scripting (e.g. Bash, Python, Golang) for automation and internal tools.
  • Experience in designing and operating production CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Knowledge of modern build/packaging (e.g. Docker, container optimisation, caching, artifact management).
  • Experience working in cross-functional initiatives, writing shared libraries and establishing practices and standards.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. DevOps, Kubernetes, AWS) a plus.
