About this role
The Clinical Application Specialist (CAS) plays a pivotal role in bridging customer needs with diagnostic product excellence. You will support implementation, optimize workflows, deliver training, and ensure sustained success across laboratory and clinical environments.
This role requires the ability to work outside standard office hours when needed. The successful candidate must have the physical ability to operate and troubleshoot lab equipment, conduct onsite training, and willingness to travel extensively—up to 80%, domestic and (occasionally) international.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute implementation plans for In Vitro diagnostics (IVD) systems in client labs, covering workflow, sample accessioning, Quality Control (QC), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) integration, and result reporting.
- Deliver hands-on training, product demonstrations, and post-sales support to customers and internal stakeholders (sales, channel partners).
- Troubleshoot technical and operational issues, escalate appropriately, and manage customer complaints through resolution.
- Participate in on-call support to maintain 24/7 diagnostic service availability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Research & Development, quality, and sales teams to relay client feedback, support product enhancements, and promote value-added services.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of installations, customer interactions, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), quality procedures) during installations, training, and support activities.
- Handling on-site product activities and managing Active case finding activities
- Improves machine productivity by recommending and training for new tests
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related field (MT ASCP or MLS considered a plus).
- 2 to 5+ years’ experience in clinical diagnostics, clinical microbiology, molecular biology, or IVD product application in laboratory settings.
- Proven track record of installing, validating, training, and troubleshooting IVD systems in clinical labs.
- Previous experience in managing complaint-handling processes and quality systems a plus.
- Previous engagement in revenue initiatives, product upselling, or service promotions, an added advantage.
- Technical and Regulatory Proficiency, Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR) integration, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., Salesforce) preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with previous experience managing equipment issues and customer escalations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders, ability to manage customer conflicts, maintain positive relationships, and function independently in fast-paced environments, high adaptability, critical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail as well as proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
