About this role

This role can be based at our Milton Park (Abingdon), Bristol or Cambridge office.  The expectation is at least 3 days per week in the office.

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead efforts in quality and environmental assurance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with design, research, and operations teams to uphold quality standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional project teams to ensure quality validation activities are effectively planned and executed throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Plan, conduct, and report internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems).
  • Investigate quality issues using structured problem‑solving techniques and implement robust corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities and manage PPAP submissions to meet automotive customer requirements.
  • Prepare, analyse, and present customer‑facing quality reports, ensuring clear communication of performance, risks, and improvement actions.
  • Manage, optimise, and continually improve both Quality and Environmental Management Systems in line with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, track progress, and report status and outcomes to the management team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across quality and environmental processes using appropriate quality tools and methodologies.
  • Deliver training and coaching to employees on quality and environmental best practices, ensuring effective use of quality tools within their roles. 


Your Key Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • HND or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline; equivalent qualifications or relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in quality assurance within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of quality methodologies and environmental practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross‑functional and international teams, supported by strong written and verbal communication skills..
  • Experience working with document management systems, including controlled documentation and record management.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to track actions, drive closure, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with automotive customers, with strong familiarity with VDA 6.3 requirements, quality management standards, and audit processes.


Desirable:

  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, assembly, and test operations.
  • Qualified or trained ISO 9001 internal auditor preferred; however, full training will be provided where required.
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications, including Power BI, and experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira for tracking actions and workflows.
  • Experience managing product compliance requirements, including export control regulations.
  • Familiarity with automotive reliability standards, particularly AEC‑Q100, and associated qualification and validation flows.
  • Working knowledge of automotive functional safety standards, specifically ISO 26262.
