The International University of Science & Technology in Kuwait (IUK) is a newly established private university in Kuwait, with a new campus located in the heart of Kuwait near the Avenues Mall. Position Summary:
The primary role of the Facilities Supervisor is to supervise the day-to-day facilities operations across the university campus, ensuring that all buildings, systems, equipment, and support services are maintained in a safe, efficient, and operational condition. The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities, monitoring contractors, supervising technical and support staff, ensuring timely completion of work orders, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and university standards.
Responsibilities:
Operations & Maintenance
• Supervise daily maintenance activities for civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of university buildings, facilities, and external areas.
• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are implemented and completed on time.
• Monitor equipment performance and coordinate corrective maintenance activities.
• Support emergency response and breakdown rectification activities.
• Support various other departments during campus-wide events, ensuring the spaces are prepared.
Team Supervision
• Supervise technicians, handymen, drivers, tea boys, and outsourced facility staff.
• Allocate daily work assignments and monitor staff productivity.
• Conduct toolbox talks and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Monitor attendance, discipline, and performance of assigned staff.
Work Order Management
• Review and prioritize work orders received through the Helpdesk System.
• Ensure service requests are completed within agreed service levels.
• Verify quality of completed works and close work orders accordingly.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
Contractor Management
• Supervise contractors performing maintenance, renovation, and project works.
• Verify contractor compliance with scope, quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
• Report contractor performance issues to management.
• Participate in site inspections and project handovers.
Health, Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with university policies and HSE requirements.
• Support fire safety inspections, emergency drills, and regulatory audits.
• Identify facility risks and report corrective actions.
• Ensure safe working practices for staff and contractors.
Asset & Inventory Management
• Monitor facility assets and report equipment condition.
• Maintain records of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
• Assist in preparing maintenance material requests and inventory controls.
• Support annual asset verification exercises.
Reporting
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly facilities reports.
• Report major breakdowns, incidents, and operational concerns.
• Assist management in budget monitoring and maintenance planning.
• Assist in defining the requirements for facility maintenance services needed for the campus.
Availability & Nature of Work
• Available to work before or after the official University hours to follow up on certain tasks.
• Available to work on weekends, as and when need arises.
Qualifications:
Education
• Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
• Professional certifications are an advantage.
Experience
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience managing technicians, maintenance personnel, contractors, and support staff.
• Experience in educational, commercial, or large-scale institutional environments is preferred.
Technical Skills
• Basic knowledge of technical and facilities-related systems.
• General IT proficiency and ability to use relevant software applications and systems.
• Ability to interpret technical documents, reports, and maintenance records.
