Within the Rolling Mill Unit, the Maintenance Manager plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and improving overall production performance. The role directly contributes to the availability of installations, the safety of teams, and the continuous improvement of maintenance practices.

  • Main Role

Ensure the availability, performance, and reliability of rolling mill equipment by organizing, supervising, and optimizing all maintenance activities (preventive, corrective, and improvement), in compliance with Quality, HSE requirements, and the Quality Management System (QMS).

Job Description

Maintenance Management

  • Define and implement the maintenance strategy for the unit.
  • Plan and supervise preventive, corrective, and improvement maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose failures, analyze malfunctions, and propose sustainable solutions.
  • Monitor performance indicators (equipment availability rate, compliance with deadlines and action plans, reduction of unplanned downtime, compliance with preventive maintenance schedules).
  • Optimize the use of spare parts and consumables.
  • Manage new projects and subcontracted maintenance activities.
  • Deploy and optimize the CMMS for tracking interventions, equipment history, and performance indicators (COSWIN).

 Team Management and Development

  • Supervise, organize, and support maintenance teams (mechanical, electrical, and mechanical fabrication workshop).
  • Validate weekly schedules according to available skills and resources.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and recommend merit-based advancements.
  • Develop team competencies through internal and external training programs.
  • Raise team awareness regarding Quality, HSE requirements, and operational best practices.

 Continuous Improvement and Performance

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (using PDCA cycle or equivalent methods).
  • Analyze the causes of unmet objectives and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to internal audits and close identified gaps.
  • Improve the reliability of critical equipment and structure maintenance practices.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures and mandatory PPE usage.
  • Analyze workplace accidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance of installations and maintenance interventions.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree (Bac+5 equivalent) in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in maintenance in heavy industry; experience in a steel plant is highly appreciated.
  • Experience in continuous industrial operations (24/7) is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of heavy mechanics, hydraulics, industrial electricity, and automation.
  • Proficiency in CMMS systems (COSWIN is a plus).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and catalogs (FR/EN).
  • Troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in managing new projects and contractors.
  • Knowledge of QMS and HSE requirements.
  • Proficiency in Excel and office software tools.
