Qualified Mental Health Professional -Houston, Texas


Position Summary: The QMHP is responsible for intake of new clients  providing approved MHR services to recipients assigned to them.


Qualifications:

Meets the following criteria:

1. Master’s or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum number of hours that are equivalent to a major in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology,  human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, or early childhood intervention: or a licensed registered nurse.

2. Familiarity with community mental health resources

3. Excellent written and verbal communications skills

4. Ability to build rapport with clients

5. Strong leadership qualities

6. Complete intake on potential new clients 

7. Valid Driver’s License.


Prior Training/Certifications
While most of the trainings are online, you may satisfy any of the below certification requirements by submitting proof of a
current and valid certification obtained from a certificated training agency.

. Nurturing Parenting
. CPR/First Aid Certification
. Children's Mental Health Trainings: Preparing Adolescents for Young Adulthood (PAYA), Barkleys Defiant
Child/Teen, Seeking Safety, Social Skills and Aggression Replacement Techniques (START)
. Adult Mental Health Trainings: IlIness Management Recovery (IMR), Assertive Community Treatment (ACT),
Individual Placement and Supports (IPS) Supported Employment (SE), Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH)
. TB Test (only if completed within the last year)


Major Task List:

  • Ability to adhere to utilization, quality improvement and corporate compliance policy and standards.
  • Provides services to clients as assigned by Administrative/Clinical Supervisor
  • Provide activities to achieve goals of treatment plan
  • Educating the client regarding rehabilitative activities of daily living. Guides the client to reach goals, objectives and treatment outcomes.
  • Collaborates with family members for the direct benefit of the client
  • Conducts crisis intervention via telephone, and face-to-face treatment. Intervene and de-escalate crisis situations with clients. Assess risk of harm to self or others and arrange needed resources
  • Observes clients in a variety of situations; Assess mental status of consumer; Assist clients in formulating treatment plans and goals; Perform case management services as needed to assist client to meet their goals as stated in their service/treatment plans; Refer clients/consumers to supportive services such as vocational, medical, social services, housing authority, etc.
  • Advocates for consumers in many different forums including at the federal, state and local court systems, with family, school system etc.
  • Maintains close and cooperative relationships with community agencies and other public agencies in carrying out treatment/service plans
  • Provides screening, intakes/assessments and reassessments of clients with required instruments in required format within appropriate timelines, Community Psychiatric Support & Treatment, Psychosocial Rehabilitation (LMHP) (QMHP under supervision of LMHP)
  • Complete treatment plans and reassessments under supervision of LMHP
  • Develops written treatment plans/updates and continuing care plans and make appropriate referrals: Maintains client records in accordance with agency standards: Attends staff meetings/clinical supervision and other required meetings as assigned
  • Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or Director
