Job Description

Join our international team as an Export Control Officer EMEA. In this role, you will support the implementation of export control and sanctions compliance requirements across our EMEA business landscape. You will assess risks, ensure adherence to internal and external regulations, and provide guidance to the business on all export control–relevant topics.

You will work closely with regional and central functions and other stakeholders across EMEA to ensure compliant processes, effective risk mitigation, and transparent communication.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Framework & Implementation

• Monitor and ensure implementation of internal rules and global standards related to export control and sanctions compliance.
• Ensure that relevant business units and functions across EMEA establish and maintain adequate processes aligned with export control and sanctions requirements.
• Support the development and documentation of country- or entity-specific export control procedures and controls.

Operational Export Control Tasks

• Conduct classifications of goods, persons, countries, and end uses.
• Review and approve sensitive or high-risk transactions (e.g. critical end use or Red Flags).
• Execute stop/release decisions for export-relevant business cases.
• Perform and document de minimis calculations.
• Review Due Diligence and KYC results and document outcomes.

Risk Management & Monitoring

• Conduct risk assessments for relevant legal entities and business areas in EMEA and document the results.
• Accompany and monitor the implementation of controls and ensure documentation of measures and outcomes.
• Support internal audits and audits by external authorities.

Advisory & Collaboration

• Serve as a primary contact for export control and sanctions-related questions arising from EMEA-based units.
• Provide guidance on export control–relevant customer and supplier processes.
• Contribute to the development of export control clauses in contracts with suppliers and customers.
• Collaborate closely with business units and escalate issues where required measures are not implemented.

Qualifications

Education:
• University degree in business administration, business law, foreign trade, or a comparable field.

Experience & Knowledge:
• Several years of experience in export control, sanctions compliance, or foreign trade.
• Solid knowledge of EU and national export control and sanctions regulations.
• Experience in operational decision-making (e.g. Red Flag assessments, end-use checks).

Personality & Working Style:
• High level of engagement, strong communication skills, and the ability to work calmly and precisely in a fast-changing environment.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and ensure implementation of compliance requirements.

Languages:
• Business-fluent English; Dutch is a plus.
