We are looking for a Group Facilitator to join our team and make a difference in the lives of others!


The Divided Sky Foundation is an abstinence-based 12 Step residential recovery program located in Ludlow, Vermont. Our mission is to provide educational and introspective programming to foster a sober and productive foundation for individuals affected by addiction. By offering a diverse collection of strategies and approaches to recovery – anchored in the 12 Steps, emotional sobriety, and mindfulness – we will support individuals to construct and utilize the tools necessary to thrive in long-term recovery.


We are currently seeking an experienced Group Facilitator. This role directs and oversees DSRRP workshops, seminars, and support meetings. Groups include but are not limited to MORE (Mindfulness Oriented Recovery Enhancement), Emotional Sobriety, 12-Step programming, and other recovery-related topics.  Group facilitators will organize and plan recovery related activities inside and outside the center.  This position will supervise and provide mentorship to Recovery Assistants and/or Recovery Coaches.  


Accountabilities


  • Serve as coordinators for all DSRRP educational workshops, seminars, and recovery meetings.
  • Lead workshops and seminars for groups sized 8-10 people in recovery from addictions.
  • Support and encourage individual group participants with motivational guidance.  
  • Understand and embrace 12-step recovery.
  • Be innovative and passionate about teaching group participants ways to improve their recovery.  
  • Complete attendance and participation log in detail, monitoring knowledge gained by DSRRP guests.
  • The ideal candidate will uphold the principles of DSRRP and be dedicated to guiding our guests to thrive 
    and flourish in recovery.  
  • Other duties as assigned.


Confidentiality: Must adhere to and respect all DSRRP policies regarding the anonymity and privacy of all guests. This includes written and verbal communication regarding past, present, or future guests’ identity, address, and presenting problems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Bachelor’s Degree in community or human services field.
  • Experience as an addiction recovery meeting/group facilitator or educator is required.  
  • Credential in the field of substance use prevention/addiction/recovery is preferred.  
  • Ability to work with individuals in various stages of sobriety and adapt to their needs accordingly.
  • Lived experience in, or an understanding of recovery is strongly preferred (we ask that applicants in direct guest-facing roles who identify as being in recovery maintain at least one year of sobriety before applying).
  • Knowledge of addiction and recovery in relation to the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
  • Demonstrated skills in supervision, planning, and guiding others in recovery from addictions.
  • Function with a high level of autonomy.
  • Must have or, within 30 days from hire, be able to obtain current First Aid and CPR card.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules or policy & procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to be flexible in relation to department needs.


Work Conditions and Physical Requirements


  • Work Setting: Indoor and outdoor work will be required for all seasons.
  • Body Positioning: Spend time sitting and standing, stooping or crouching, walking, ascending/descending stairs, making repetitive motions, spend time using hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Frequently lift or move up to 10 lbs. Occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Communication: Contact with others, e-mail, in-person discussions, public speaking, telephone and video calls.
