Job Description

The Patient Educator understands and reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, abides by HIPAA and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational activities for the assigned service.

Responsibilities:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Collaborates with nurse managers and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates educational plans/programs and utilizes methods, measurements and tools to evaluate achievement of

    learning goals.
  • Serves as a consultant for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
  • Participates in the coordination and continuity of orientation programs, including preceptor programs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Registered RN or Dietitian in the State of Illinois.
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
  • BLS Healthcare provider required or within 90 days of hire.

Preferred:

  • CBDCE Certification from the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education

Exception: New graduate internal employees seeking their first licensed clinical position at NM may be eligible depending upon the job family.
