Job Summary

PPG Quality is seeking an experienced Automotive Manufacturing Lead Quality Inspector to support manufacturing and quality operations in the Louisville, KY area. This position is responsible for leading inspection activities, supporting Quality Inspectors onsite, communicating with customer representatives, and ensuring quality standards are consistently maintained.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is committed to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Quality Inspectors onsite

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of parts and products

• Ensure inspection activities are completed accurately and in accordance with customer requirements

• Train and mentor inspectors on quality standards, procedures, and expectations

• Assist with staffing coordination, attendance management, and daily operational needs

• Communicate professionally with customers, site leadership, and PPG Quality management

• Complete required reports, documentation, and quality records

• Identify and escalate quality concerns as needed

• Support containment, sorting, rework, and inspection projects

• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and quality excellence

• Serve as the primary point of contact for inspectors during assigned shifts


Qualifications

• Previous quality inspection experience required

• Previous leadership, team lead, or supervisory experience preferred

• Automotive manufacturing experience preferred

• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, specifications, and quality standards

• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

• Basic computer skills, including email, reporting, and data entry

• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance required

• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions

• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, as customer needs require


Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

• Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and reach as required

• Ability to work in manufacturing and warehouse environments

• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds as needed
