About this role

About the role

Ritchies is looking for an Intermediate Business Analyst on a fixed term basis, to support key business improvement initiatives across our depot operations, payroll processes and technology systems.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with data, understanding operational processes, identifying gaps, and turning business requirements into clear, practical outcomes. You will work closely with depot teams, Payroll, Operations and Technology to improve how information flows across the business and ensure processes are well understood, documented, tested and embedded.

A key part of this role will be acting as the conduit between our depots and the Payroll team. You will help clarify requirements, analyse payroll and operational data, identify exceptions or process issues, and support improvements that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.

This role would suit an intermediate BA who is highly organised, detail-focused, comfortable working with data, and able to build trusted relationships with both office-based and frontline teams.

What you will be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Analyse payroll, roster, time, attendance and operational data to identify trends, exceptions, gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with depot teams and Payroll to understand current processes, pain points and business requirements.
  • Document business requirements, process flows, data requirements, test scenarios and standard operating procedures.
  • Support data mapping, data validation, reconciliation and testing between business systems.
  • Help ensure payroll-related data is accurate, complete and fit for purpose before it is passed through to Payroll.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions with stakeholders across Operations, Payroll, Finance and Technology.
  • Support system and process changes, including user acceptance testing, issue resolution and implementation support.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual handling, improve data quality and strengthen process consistency across depots.
  • Translate operational requirements into clear documentation that can be understood by both business and technical teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy and the experience of our internal teams.

About you

You will be someone who has strong attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate, well-structured work. You do not just gather requirements; you ask the right questions, check the data, validate the process, and make sure the outcome will work in the real world.

You will bring:

  • Experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Payroll Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to work with spreadsheets, reports, reconciliations and exception data.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when working with payroll, time, attendance or operational information.
  • The ability to document requirements, processes, issues and decisions clearly.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work confidently with frontline teams, depot leaders, Payroll and Technology.
  • Experience supporting testing, data validation, process mapping and system changes.
  • A practical, outcome-focused approach and the ability to follow through on actions.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with Power BI, SQL or reporting tools would be an advantage.
  • Payroll experience would be preferred.
  • Experience with DataPay would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in transport, logistics, workforce management, rostering, time and attendance, or another operational environment would be beneficial.

What will make you successful

You will be successful in this role if you can combine strong analysis with practical business judgement. We need someone who can get into the detail, understand how depots operate, identify where data or process issues are occurring, and work constructively with Payroll and Technology to resolve them.

This is not a purely technical role and it is not a purely administrative role. It sits in the middle: understanding the business, analysing the data, documenting the requirement, testing the outcome, and helping teams adopt better ways of working.
